　　 Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, July 4 ( Reporter Wang Zhuolen )  Premier Li Keqiang met with Ben Bernard, the 4th President of the UN General Assembly, at the Great Hall of the People on the morning of the 4th.

　　 Li Keqiang congratulated Bender on his election as the chairman of the 74th UN General Assembly.  He said that over the past 70 years,  the United Nations has played an irreplaceable role in safeguarding world peace and security, promoting global development, and promoting international cooperation. Next year coincides with the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. China supports the United Nations General Assembly in preparing for relevant commemorative activities. This is of special significance for safeguarding the multilateralism of the United Nations, sovereign equality, and peaceful resolution of issues. As a founding member of the United Nations,  a permanent member of the Security Council and the world’s largest developing country, China will continue to firmly uphold the international system with the United Nations as its core, uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter,  and work with other countries to deepen international cooperation and safeguard international fairness. Justice,  jointly respond to challenges and build a community of human destiny.

　　 Bender expressed his gratitude to China for its strong support to the United Nations.  As President of the UN General Assembly, I firmly support multilateralism, safeguard the purposes and principles of the UN Charter,  and support member states in solving problems through consultation. I will work in an objective and fair manner and strengthen communication and coordination with China.
